We are looking for a Development Advisor responsible for our Medical International Mobile Staff on a 1-Year Temporary Contract
The HR department at MSF Norway is seeking a Development Advisor for our medical pool of International Mobile Staff on a temporary 1-year contract, covering a long-term leave.
As a Development Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting the medical international mobile staff MSF Norway sends to field assignments across a wide range of humanitarian contexts. You’ll be part of a dynamic, service-oriented team responsible for attraction, recruitment, matching, and career development. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with colleagues in Oslo and collaborate with international partners across the MSF movement.

Key Accountabilities:
- Maintain an overview of staffing needs across MSF projects to support timely and strategic recruitment planning.
- Advise on applicant selection and contribute to recruitment activities to ensure alignment with operational requirements and MSF values.
- Coordinate onboarding processes and co-lead induction seminars to facilitate smooth integration of new international mobile staff.
- Develop and sustain relationships with international partners through dialogue and networking to enhance collaboration and matching success.
- Facilitate deployments by monitoring operational updates and staff availability, ensuring timely and appropriate matching.
- Oversee the execution of each deployment, including departure and return, to ensure compliance with MSF guidelines and procedures.
- Support career development by assessing competencies and learning needs, and by providing briefings, training, and post-deployment follow-up.
- Analyse staffing capacity and maintain HR databases to inform strategic planning and ensure accurate documentation of international mobile staff.
- This position may involve some travel within Europe to attend operational meetings.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in HR or social sciences (or 2+ years of relevant experience).
- HR management experience.
- Field experience in humanitarian work outside your home country.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database tools.
- Fluency in English (minimum B2 level); Norwegian is an asset.
Desirable Skills
- Coaching experience or interest.
- Training delivery experience.
- Knowledge of psychological first aid.

We offer:
- An exciting, meaningful, and international work environment.
- 1 year contract at 100% from 2nd March 2026 to 2nd March 2027 (may extend)
- Salary according to Doctors Without Borders salary policy at salary scale 16: 55,855 NOK - 61,320 NOK per month (depending on work experience).
- Desired start date: 2nd March 2026
- Main workplace: Hausmannsgate 6, 0181 Oslo.
