Head of International HR (Temporary, 6 Months)
We are looking for a Temporary Head of International HR
IMPORTANT: The current Head of International HR is on sick leave. Therefore, this is a temporary position.
The HR Department at MSF Norway is responsible for all HR activities and services related to both domestic and international staff. The HR Management Team consists of the HR Director (HRD), the Head of Domestic HR, and the Head of International HR. Together with all HR colleagues, the team aims to:
- Deliver strategic HR management and leadership support to attract, develop, and retain the right people. They also enable organizational development by addressing contextual and organizational needs and growth.
- Ensure that MSF Norway is a responsible employer and an attractive place to work, where people feel inspired, motivated, and committed to our social mission.
As the Head of International HR, you will oversee the provision of International Mobile Staff (IMS) for MSF projects. You will be responsible for talent acquisition, pool and people management, career planning, and IMS follow-up.
In 2024, the International HR team of MSF Norway sent 74 IMS to various projects around the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for strategy and annual plan for MSF Norway’s International HR, covering talent acquisition, people development, and HR administration.
- Lead International HR analytics, reporting, and budgeting processes aligned with the annual cycle to identify trends and proactively plan for future IMS needs.
- Manage and support a team of International HR Experts as a line manager by:
a) Overseeing daily operations including working days, sick leave, vacation tracking, 1:1s, career follow-up, recruitment, and administration.
b) Practicing active listening, coaching, empowerment, and support to foster a culture of feedback, recognition, and collaboration. - Coordinate with other departments on HR strategies, plans, and projects to meet IMS needs in line with MSF’s social mission, in collaboration with the HR Director and Head of Domestic HR.
- Advise International HR working groups on talent acquisition, people development, and HR administration to ensure Duty of Care for all IMS; provide guidance to MSF Norway line managers on people and leadership development (upon request).
- Ensure GDPR compliance and effective data management within the International HR context to improve efficiency in digital HR platforms.
- As a responsible line manager, working to prevent abuse, by reinforcing, discussing, and modelling the MSF Behavioural Commitments.
We Are Looking For a Professional With:
- Higher/relevant education and at least 5 years of experience in leading and managing teams in a regional and/or global context.
- Experience in stakeholder management, networking, and change management.
- Certification and experience in coaching and/or mentoring (an asset).
- Previous or current experience with MSF.
- Fluency in spoken and written English (B2 level or higher); fluency in another Nordic language is an advantage.

- Salary at HAY level 18, ranging from NOK 66,047 to 71,448 per month.
